Zhann Carcerri is an Imperial priest and inquisitor of the Order of the Watching Eye. He appears in The White Room, Ruby's Fief , Those Enduring and Those Vigilant , and To Ask and to Answer.
Pre-Imperial Life[]
After an Imperial invasion ended with the use of a dimension-destroying doomsday device Carcerri was the only survivor. The device left nothing behind, and the man who would become the Inquisitor survived only through the intervention of the Emperor Tobias.
The device destroyed his world by removing it from history, and so Zhann has no memory of his time before the Sanctus.
The Watching Eye[]
The Emperor Tobias saw a useful tool in the strength of Zhann's mind and recruited him into the Order shortly after his reeducation in the Sanctus Phainein was complete. He excelled as a Watcher, but found his place with the mystics of the Watching Eye's Inquisitors. He was found to have little skill and less intrest in the blade, and had great difficulty with the Order's Wardens.

The Emperor Tobias, The Order of the Watching Eye |
The Inquisitor's main task in the Watching Eye is to subvert the designs of the agents of the other Emperors at the direction of Tobias. To this end he operates both within the Empire and outside of the Empire in a small cell of loyal Order operatives, while keeping his ties to the Order using their Shared Sight, as well as by visiting Watchers and other agents posted outside of the Empire.
